Cost of college went up for all students at Holyoke Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.1 percent for 2018-19 at Holyoke Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Massachusetts residents paid $4,902 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $240 more than the $4,662 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 100.9 percent more than residents this year, or $9,846. Their price tag grew 2.5 percent from $9,606 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Massachusetts residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 637 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.3 million and 261 students took out student loans totaling more than $894,330.

Including all undergraduates (5,206), 3,333 students used grants or scholarships totaling $13 million, and 1,478 students took out $5.2 million in federal student loans.
