The Springfield College baseball team used an eight-run third running to surge past Bowdoin, 13-9, during its Spring Break trip in Florida on Friday evening.

The Pride pounded out 19 hits in the game as Ryan Sorgi (Braintree, Mass.), Cadin Maynard (Waterford, Conn.), and Noah Diamond (Glastonbury, Conn.) all had three hits in the contest.

Springfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as a Maynard double and two-run base knock by Diamond put the Pride in control early.  Bowdoin would respond with eight-unanswered runs to take an 8-3 edge after two innings of play, only to have Springfield erupt for eight runs in the top of the third to take the game over. In a frame where Springfield totaled seven hits, Michael Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Tommy Hyjek (Kensington, Conn.) each drove in a pair of runs in the third as the Pride took the lead for good.

The Pride would close out the scoring in impressive fashion as Cole Zalegowski (North Haven, Conn.) and Sorgi led off the fifth and eighth with solo homers to help the Pride pull away with the 13-9 triumph.
