Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with the Springfield Business Improvement District (BID), presenting sponsors Country Bank and Big Y for the opening day celebration of the Downtown Springfield Farmer’s Market at Tower Square Park which is located at the corner of Main Street and Bridge Street here in Downtown Springfield.

Mayor Sarno states, “It is another beautiful day to be downtown and what a wonderful array of vendors to visit at the Downtown Farmers Market in Tower Square Park. They will be down there today until 3:00pm today and every Friday through September. Thank you to Michelle Grout and the Springfield Business Improvement District team for coordinating the market and showing me around to all the vendors. Whether you live, work, or are visiting downtown, I hope you will stop by the Farmers Market where you can find a great assortment of locally grown fruits and veggies, baked goods, honey, candles, crafts, flowers, and more.”

The weekly market, which has been held in Springfield’s downtown for the last 8 years, will take place every Friday, 11am – 3pm, through September, weather permitting. This year, in addition to the expansion of vendors, the Market is focusing on community engagement and community fun. Each Market will have a theme to go along with the week, such as Dogs Days of Summer, Christmas in July, and Schools Out BBQ.

Vendors include, D&R Farm from Hampden, MA offering fresh produce, meat, and more, Argic Organics from Wilbraham, MA offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, Bearded Bee will have an assortment of honey made products, and many more vendors. EBT, SNAP, and WIC will be available at participating vendors. This helps complete the mission of assuring everyone has access to quality affordable foods.
