Holyoke Community Charter District’s student-to-teacher ratio fell by 9.1% in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Holyoke Community Charter District fell by 9.1% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 653 students being taught by 43.5 teachers in Holyoke Community Charter District, which covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Holyoke. That's an average of 15 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Holyoke Community Charter District had 702 students and 42.5 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
