East Longmeadow Public Schools District: How many students failed the Science test in 2022-23 school year?

Of the 571 students who took part in the Science portion of the MCAS, 49.6% scored below proficiency in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In comparison, 41.9% met the subject benchmarks and 8.6% exceeded them.

The number of East Longmeadow Public Schools District students who failed their Science assessments rose by 13.2% from the previous school year.

East Longmeadow Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in East Longmeadow.

In the 2022-23 school year, 200,905 students took the Science test in Massachusetts with 56.9% failing the exam, 1.5% more than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
