Did Holyoke Community Charter District students fail or pass their 2022-23 school year Science tests?

Of the 141 students who took part in the Science portion of the MCAS, 80.1% scored below proficiency in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In comparison, 19.9% met the subject benchmarks and none exceeded them.

The number of Holyoke Community Charter District students who failed their Science assessments fell by 0.9% from the previous school year.

Holyoke Community Charter District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Holyoke.

In the 2022-23 school year, 200,905 students took the Science test in Massachusetts with 56.9% failing the exam, 1.5% more than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
