Veritas Preparatory Charter School District: How many students failed the Science test in 2022-23 school year?

Of the 194 students who took part in the Science portion of the MCAS, 80.4% scored below proficiency in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In comparison, 17.5% met the subject benchmarks and 2.1% exceeded them.

The number of Veritas Preparatory Charter School District students who failed their Science assessments rose by 9.9% from the previous school year.

Veritas Preparatory Charter School District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Springfield.

In the 2022-23 school year, 200,905 students took the Science test in Massachusetts with 56.9% failing the exam, 1.5% more than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
