In 2022-23 school year 60.1% of Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District students failed the Science portion of MCAS

Of the 298 students who took part in the Science portion of the MCAS, 60.1% scored below proficiency in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In comparison, 36.9% met the subject benchmarks and 3% exceeded them.

The number of Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District students who failed their Science assessments fell by 7.3% from the previous school year.

Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Southwick.

In the 2022-23 school year, 200,905 students took the Science test in Massachusetts with 56.9% failing the exam, 1.5% more than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
