In 2023-24 school year 63.1% of Agawam Public Schools District students failed the Math portion of MCAS

Of the 1,814 students who took part in the Math portion of the MCAS, 63.1% scored below proficiency in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In comparison, 33% met the subject benchmarks and 4% exceeded them.

The number of Agawam Public Schools District students who failed their Math assessments rose by 3.3% from the previous school year.

Agawam Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Feeding Hills.

In the 2023-24 school year, 464,292 students took the Math test in Massachusetts with 58% failing the exam, 0.7% less than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
