Student-to-teacher ratio in Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District fell in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District fell by 1.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,359 students being taught by 124 teachers in Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District, which covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Southwick. That's an average of 11 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District had 1,393 students and 124.7 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
