Test Expectations: How many students met or exceeded science MCAS expectations in Holyoke Public Schools District in 2022-23 school year?

Of the 997 students who took part in the MCAS, 10.5% met the testing standard while 0.7% exceeded expectations, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The number of Holyoke Public Schools District students who met or exceeded expectations fell by 4.3% from the previous school year.

Holyoke Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Hampden County and has a main office in Holyoke.

In the 2022-23 school year, 200,905 students took the science test in Massachusetts with 86,558 students passing, 1.5% less than the year before.

According to a 2025 analysis from WalletHub, Massachusetts education system was considered the best in the nation, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
